Tiger II of Schwere Panzerabteilung 505

Have been working on this Tiger II profile drawing last week. This is a Tiger II from the Schwere Panzerabteilung 505 with their unique marking of a charging knight on horseback. The heavy tank battalion was formed in January 1943 and fought at Kursk, refitted with Tiger II in 1944 and continue fighting at the Eastern front. The battalion's top scorers included Wilhelm Knauth with 68 tank kills and Heinz Mausberg with 50+ tank kills.

Nice detail work, Vince.Have you ever been to the Canadian Warplane Museum in Hamilton? Do they have anything good to see there?

Hi Tim,

Haven't been to Hamilton's Warplane Museum but if you are interested in AFV, you can visit the Canadian Forces Base Borden. It has a lot of AFV there, from Wirbelwind Flakpanzer IV, Panther, T34 to M60.

Those Huns sure knew how to build tanks. And you sure know how to paint them.

Great work Mr Wai.

Hi Machinistscott,

Thanks, the Germans had really built some interesting tanks during WWII:-) Next I will be working on one of their Panthers.
